My boyfriend and I are interested in starting or taking over a small commercial horticultural business in southern Pennsylvania, ideally in York or Adams County, within the next few years (2028–2029). We are particularly interested in wholesale ornamental nurseries, growing shrubs, trees, and other landscape plants. We are still in the early planning stages and have limited hands-on farming experience, but my boyfriend has a background in accounting and would manage the operation full-time. We also have potential financial support from a family member with business ownership experience. We are especially interested in leasing an existing operation or working with a retiring farmer who might be willing to help us learn the business and eventually transition ownership. Our long-term goal is to build a sustainable, profitable horticultural business that we can continue expanding.

I have experience with chickens, quails, rabbits, mainly but some experience with other animals and gardening. I am looking for a farm not huge like commercial size but not small. Medium size farm, 10 or more acres. We want cows, chickens, quail, rabbits, sheep, goats. We want to raise animals for their eggs, manure, and meat. We also want to start a farm store and grow things like pumpkins, microgreens, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, apples, figs, and so much more. I homeschool my 2 children and would like a big enough house to foster children as well. So I am looking for a farm home with at least 4 bedrooms. But we can always add a home or more room if there is enough room on the acres.
My husband is an electrician, but he wants to eventually quit and farm with me. The most we can really afford is about $250,000. Or we could do owner financing if that is an option. My passion and dream is to farm. I’ve always loved animals, they bring me peace and joy. We are also hoping there would be some sort of forest on the property or room enough to grow some trees.

I am looking to establish and operate a live-animal livestock farm in Central Pennsylvania, ideally within approximately 50–75 miles of the Harrisburg area. My goal is to acquire an existing working farm with approximately 25 or more acres, preferably with a residence suitable for my family, along with barns, fenced pasture, reliable water sources, and infrastructure that can support livestock. I plan to focus primarily on raising and supplying cattle, goats, and sheep to wholesale buyers, meat processors, and distributors serving the halal, kosher, and broader regional meat markets. I have a strong business and entrepreneurial background, with experience developing and managing businesses in the United States and internationally, and I am approaching this farm as a long-term agricultural business rather than simply a real-estate investment. I am also working with an experienced veterinarian who will be involved in the project, which will help us maintain strong standards for animal health, welfare, biosecurity, and responsible livestock management. I am particularly interested in connecting with retiring farmers or farm owners who would like to see their property continue operating as a productive agricultural and livestock farm. My long-term goal is to build a sustainable, professionally managed Pennsylvania farming operation that supports local agriculture, creates economic opportunities, and develops lasting relationships with farmers, processors, distributors, and communities throughout the region.

Growing up I always said I wanted to be a farmer and my first job was working at the local farmer’s market where I learned about local food and seasons. After college, I spent three years as an intern for a local organic CSA called Prescott’s Patch. Currently, I am a patent paralegal for the large equipment manufacturer Case New Holland.

Our farming experience has grown from years of hands-on production and from a shared belief that farming is the kind of work and life we want to continue building together. We started Bright Thread Farm in 2021 as a diversified vegetable farm and have grown vegetables for farmers markets, CSA, and local wholesale customers. Kelsey has spent much of her career working directly in crop production and farm management, including managing certified organic vegetable production and now overseeing crop production at Carnation Farms. Her experience includes everything from crop and seeding plans to field preparation, planting, irrigation, harvest, crew coordination, and getting crops to market. Trevor has farmed alongside Kelsey while also building a career working directly with farmers as an agricultural conservation planner, helping farms think through soil health, water management, irrigation, infrastructure, nutrient management, and the long-term viability of their operations.

Over the years, we have learned that what we want most is not simply more acreage, but a farm that we can really know and care for over a long period of time. We enjoy the process of figuring out what a particular piece of ground does well, improving soil year after year, working through the practical challenges of water and infrastructure, and building production systems that make sense for both the land and the people farming it. We hope to build a diversified and financially sustainable farm where annual crops remain an important part of the operation but where we can also explore perennial crops, livestock, or other enterprises depending on what is best suited to the property. Having farmed primarily on leased land, we understand how difficult it can be to make the long-term investments that good stewardship often requires. We are looking for a place where we can put down roots as a family, make thoughtful improvements, care for the soil and water, and build a farm that we expect to be part of for decades. A farm transfer is especially meaningful to us because we recognize that a farm is more than land and buildings—it represents years of work, knowledge, decisions, and relationships. We would hope to learn from that history, respect what previous farmers have built, and carry the farm forward in a way that keeps it productive, cared for, and connected to its agricultural community.

I’m a hands-on builder, maker, homeschool father, certified sound therapist, and lifelong learner looking for a long-term partnership with a farm or landowner where I can bring my skills, experience, and energy in exchange for access to a small piece of land. I have experience with natural building, woodworking, homesteading, gardening, community-building, and creating practical spaces from the ground up—I even built a code-compliant 706-square-foot yurt in the Smoky Mountains after living in a tent for nearly a year. I’m especially interested in developing land through permaculture and regenerative farming practices, with an emphasis on working with the natural systems already present rather than simply extracting from the land. I’d love to help create diverse, sustainable income streams connected to a local market: seasonal produce, herbs and medicinal plants, tinctures and botanical products, workshops, homeschool and nature-based education, maker experiences, farm events, sound and wellness offerings, and opportunities for families to learn where their food comes from and how to grow, harvest, preserve, and work with it. My vision is to help create a place where the farm becomes not only a productive agricultural space, but a living educational and community resource—a place that reconnects people with the land, their food, natural building, practical skills, and one another. In exchange for the opportunity to establish a small home base on the property, I’d bring substantial hands-on labor, building and development skills, programming ideas, community connections, and the willingness to help cultivate projects that could generate meaningful, locally rooted income for the farm over time.

I currently own and operate Mountain View Acres. I currently lease about 10 acres from my neighbor. Being a pasture based poultry farm I raise broilers chickens seasonally, March to Oct, and have a laying flock of hens that are moved and housed in mobile coops. With being a pasture based farm I have created a niche market that allows me to be direct to consumer and having some wholesale accounts as well.

Last year we stared home delivery services which is important to give convenience to the customer but also allows me to potentially move to different parts of the state without affecting my sales since we have no brick and motar store.
I’m also in the process of finding partner farms to be a one stop shop Food Hub for consumers who like the convenience of home delivery.
My ideal farm would be big enough to have my family live on the farm, decent infrastructure to rehab or remodel and enough land to branch out from just chickens. A small mixed use, highly diverse farm. The kids want to start their own farm ventures as well.
