They need to realize that growing your own food has so many benefits. I also want to educate my community by offering farm to table dinners. I want to learn how to use the land better and learn better ways to make healthier soil. Growing is vital to our existence and we can do a better job by farming smarter.

I have no professional experience with farming or agriculture. I currently garden as a hobby and have a few chickens. Im as green as they come with stuff like this. I have a degree in Network Technology, and the 6 years since graduating and getting this degree has been nothing but hating every moment of it. I want to farm to not only do something fulfilling for my own life, but also feed the community. I want to provide good, healthy natural foods to my neighbors and family. I have a family of six, we dream of having a property we can all live on in separate houses. I do not have much farm experience with a good friend of mine who has farmed his entire life has agreed to help. We are looking for a large enough piece of property for each of us to have a house and to also farm the land. We have some additional business ideas for the property like raising some beef, pork, chicken, eggs. While having a market and some agri-tourism. I have a very general business plan, partly depends on the piece of property.

Jason grew up helping on his grandfather’s farm for years, he served in the Marine Corps from 2001 to 2005, he is a 100% disabled combat veteran and a firefighter for the Department of Veteran Affairs. (I) Florence grew up in a homesteading/foraging/hunting family. I met my husband in the delayed entry program for the Maine Corps. I have continued to homestead on every size property we have ever lived on. Our goal is to find enough land to form a family compound/farm as all of our children would like to join us in farming the land. Our goal is regenerative farming practices and eventually holding classes on gardening in the victory garden format as well as regenerative practices, preserving the food grown, and eventually opening a community cannery where people can come and can their food in a commercial capacity in one day instead of it taking days upon days. We will also have a farm store that sells the produce and products we will be growing and making. We do intend to offer seasonal agri-tourism as well so that the surrounding communities can enjoy a day in the countryside while also seeing how a farm works. While we will have some livestock, our main focus will be crop production.

My interest in agriculture began shortly after graduating from high school, when I worked for nearly two years with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture as a laboratory technician, assisting with seed testing and germination. That experience gave me an appreciation for the science, care, and dedication that go into producing healthy crops and supporting Pennsylvania’s agricultural industry. I genuinely enjoyed that work, and looking back, I wish I had pursued more opportunities in the field. Now, I am interested in reconnecting with that passion and exploring the possibility of establishing a future in farming. As a woman of color, I would be proud to bring my background, perspective, and work ethic into an industry where I hope to make a meaningful contribution. I want to be part of the future of crop production, learn from experienced farmers, and build the knowledge and skills necessary to become a responsible and successful land steward. My goal is to find an opportunity where I can grow, contribute to Pennsylvania agriculture, and potentially build something lasting that can benefit my family and community for generations to come. I see this as an opportunity not only to pursue something I have always valued, but also to help create greater representation and opportunity for women of color in agriculture.

I am looking to establish a small, diversified micro-farm in Pennsylvania focused on practical, sustainable food production. My interests include microgreens and intensive crops, poultry, and small-scale fish production. I want to develop a farm that can produce food and income on a relatively small amount of land while allowing me to continue building my hands-on agricultural skills and knowledge.
An important part of my goal is making practical farming skills accessible to people who may not fit the traditional image of a farmer. I have two disabled children, so accessibility and creating meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities is something that is personally important to my family.
