I am a veteran, married to a soon-to-be veteran. We were both Army “bomb squad” so hard work and drinking knowledge out of a fire hose are things we thrive on. Work appears to be pulling him to the MD/PA border.

As a child, I used to do seasonal work with my neighbors who grew almonds and walnuts in orchards. One of the neighbors sold his crop to Blue Diamond Almonds. We are looking to move from our small scale homesteading and breeding our own chickens and quail to a farm operation. I am currently a Master Gardener in North Carolina and I focus on vegetables. The situation is going to be different, but I have a base.

We’re looking for a variety of opportunities, fruit vegetable grains and/or various livestock

We are a family of 6 living in Allegheny County. Emily is a recent graduate of the Bidwell Training Center Horticulture Program and has completed a 1 month internship at Quiet Creek Herb Farm and School of County Living where she harvested a variety of medicinal herbs (not Cannabis ) and prepared them for sale in the farm shop. The farm practiced permaculture style growing including vermiculture, composting, humanure, huglecultre, mushroom logs, high tunnels, and raised beds. She has some previous work experience in non-profit bookkeeping and is interested in natural textiles and home sewing. Karl manages the photo department for a professional sports team but is looking for a career change that would allow him to work from home. We are interested in a permaculture land stewardship partnership. possibly with Karl helping to market a CSA or farm business and Emily gardening and potentially homeschooling. We have been working to make this a financial possibility and have been debt free (expect for a small mortgage) for about 7 years. We could possibly have an extra income stream if we rent out our current home. We do not want to start completely from scratch, so a mentorship leading to secession would be ideal.

I am interested in becoming a farmer in Pennsylvania. I am soon to be 35 years old. I have an associates degree in business from CCAC and have had. some additional classes at Penn State University. Since 2009 I have been employed in the title insurance/mortgage world to date. Although I have worked in an office for the majority of my professional life, I am a healthy, able bodied individual. I have been researching and educating myself on farming for quite some time. Although I have been exposed to farming at various levels, I have zero experience in farming but I am intelligent and enjoy learning new things. I would like to make the best of whatever land I am able to obtain for farming. I would like to be multidimensional in the products produced by my farm all while carefully controlling costs. I think my education in business/accounting/marketing could be beneficial in the overall running of a farm from an accounting perspective.

I have read about the problem facing modern farmers and having no one to pass the farm off to. Although my parents were not farmers (although my fathers side has farmers on their side), I could see myself being someone they could pass their farm on to. I would be extremely interested in how to capitalize on the recent energy grant programs and how to upgrade and maximize whatever farm I do end up purchasing. however up until this point it has been solely me researching, step one seems to be filling this out and hopefully obtaining more infomation. That is solely my interest here at this time. I am prepared for the process to take however long it needs to take as long as I am able to maximize whatever opportunites that may be presented to me. I am not interested in rushing into anything without proper planning however that being said, I do not have anything restricting me from making whatever moves are required during the process.

Passionate, hardworking, creative 24 year old man looking for a farm. I am in the process of developing a specific business plan but I generally I plan to generate revenue with events, rental cabins, meat, and produce. I have worked on farms for four years, three with organic vegetables and one with pastured livestock. I took a permaculture design course last winter and am looking to gain more experience with trees this coming season. Farming wise I will practice silvopasture, growing trees over perennial grasses with livestock grazing, and market gardening. It is important to me to produce good food and I also see value in outdoor experiences. On-farm events like workouts, barbeques, live music will bring in visitors. Those visitors will see that they can buy produce there, and stay in a quiet cabin next weekend. Something really special would be an amphitheater, stage, and studio. A property with varied topography is preferred so some sections can always remain more hidden. This is my vision but I am flexible. Call or email anytime and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

I am a 32 year old veteran and beginning rancher/farmer looking to lease land on which to launch a sustainable agriculture production operation. I have recently completed the veterans agricultural business training program Battleground to Breaking Ground offered by Texas A&M/Texas AgrAbility . While attending the course I obtained knowledge, skills and resources related to business management, farming, and ranching. I also refined my business proposal which lays out my phased plan to begin and grow the business for which I will produce pasture raised poultry, pork, and beef products, with a goal of eventually adding fresh produce and value added products. My first phase enterprise is pasture poultry. My plan can be adapted to scale to available land, although I am seeking a property capable of sustaining growth, an enclosed building such as a shed or barn would be a great feature.

My name is Jared Brandon. I’m a 39-year-old Pennsylvania native who loves the rolling hills and pastures of the Northeast. I currently reside in Lackawanna county, but spent a large portion of my childhood in Susquehanna county where my family was, at different times, involved in horse farms and veal farming. It was on the horse farm where I developed a deep appreciation and love for the farm setting. Over the years, that love developed into a passion for farming, raising animals, and stewarding land and resources.

My wife, Jen, and I have been married for 15 years and have always had a dream of having a farm where our kids can grow up as we both did—deeply connected to the land and animals, ideally living more simply but with rich experiences to offer our whole family. We currently both work from home and run two small businesses. We recently moved to a new home where we have a 1.6 acre lot, allowing us to build a garden, and have our flock of chickens, which our daughter absolutely loves. We have seen a deep love for animals and the farm life begin to develop in her, and we are eager to nurture that.

Having grown up in farm settings, I am experienced in the rhythms and demands of farm life. I recently began volunteering on a friend’s farm to gain more hands-on experience, and also to scratch the farming itch at least a little bit. I’m an avid consumer of books and magazines on regenerative farming, food systems, health, and animal husbandry. Much of my knowledge is theoretical, but I am eager to put it into practice.

I am deeply passionate about regenerative farming methods and I believe that small family farms are the way to restore resiliency, trust, and nutrition back into our food system. I am in search of an opportunity in the Northeast PA region that will allow me and my family to pursue these passions and become farmers. We feel that a lease and possibly mentorship or partnership opportunity will suit us best, preferably on an organic farm or farm that is interested in going organic/regenerative. I am particularly interested in raising grass-fed beef, and am learning more about the idea of “grass farming” and using livestock and cover crops to build soil health.

We are most interested in direct-to-consumer operations as opposed to subsidized commodity crops. My wife and I are both experienced in marketing, running businesses, and building support for the things we are involved in. Our skills and interests will complement the marketing and business sides of running a farm.

Ultimately, our desire is to own a farm that we can hand off to our kids and hopefully reignite the idea of a multi-generational farm. We are willing and interested in starting off with an opportunity that does not require us to buy land outright and start from scratch without the benefit of an experienced farmer/landowner to guide us.

I am a father of three with a full time job in Information Technology. I am looking to purchase approximately 10-20 acres of farmland in order to start a Christmas tree farm. Ideally I would be working part time on the farm with my wife and children until I retire from my regular job and then hopefully move over to tree farming full time . I hope to eventually work toward a cut-your-own tree farm, but may try to sell trees by purchasing them wholesale while my trees to grow. I have experience planting many Fraser fir trees on my 2+ acre property as well as with irrigation, herbicide and pesticide. Development rights to the land is a plus but not a necessity. Mainly looking for an area in Berks, Upper Montgomery or Southern Lehigh counties.
