We are a family of 6 living in Allegheny County. Emily is a recent graduate of the Bidwell Training Center Horticulture Program and has completed a 1 month internship at Quiet Creek Herb Farm and School of County Living where she harvested a variety of medicinal herbs (not Cannabis ) and prepared them for sale in the farm shop. The farm practiced permaculture style growing including vermiculture, composting, humanure, huglecultre, mushroom logs, high tunnels, and raised beds. She has some previous work experience in non-profit bookkeeping and is interested in natural textiles and home sewing. Karl manages the photo department for a professional sports team but is looking for a career change that would allow him to work from home. We are interested in a permaculture land stewardship partnership. possibly with Karl helping to market a CSA or farm business and Emily gardening and potentially homeschooling. We have been working to make this a financial possibility and have been debt free (expect for a small mortgage) for about 7 years. We could possibly have an extra income stream if we rent out our current home. We do not want to start completely from scratch, so a mentorship leading to secession would be ideal.

I am returning to my hometown of Ligonier, and starting to do what I’ve always wanted to do in my life, which is live here and work the soil of the valley. I know it well, extremely well. I have established business associations with current area farmers, to slowly establish my own parcel. I have formal business ties with stat therapeutic equine run by Cat Markosky. Informal business agreements with Kenco and Steve Rhodes, the roses farm. In addition, given my hometown connections, this is more like farming to me. The community coming together. This is what I am trying to do on my small currently 30 acre parcel with plans to expand quickly if possible.

Born and raised on a Dairy Farm in Bangor Pa. At the age of 18 started farming dairy on my own leasing a farm in Bangor PA. After 2 years moved the heard to Milford NJ to a larger barn increasing the heard to about 40 cows. Farmed in NJ for 2 years when my home farm where I was raised became available due to an uncle selling his heard and equipment. I Farmed my family farm for 5 years and was unable to purchase the farm due to family disputes. I was asked to leave by two uncles. I then purchased a 300 acre dairy in Chateaugay NY. I farmed there for 6 years Milking 100 dairy cows and raising replacement heifers. I was also producing about 70% of our own forages. Due to a divorce I was unable to keep the the farm in NY. With low milk prices and increasing my debt to buy out my ex-wife it would have not gone well. I came back to Stroudsburg after selling the farm in NY. I started an excavating business that I currently own. I remarried 8 years ago. I haven’t been satisfied or happy without the farm. My wife loves the farm life as much as I do and has encouraged me to start farming again. We have decided to farm Beef and Goats rather than dairy. My son, son-in-law and Daughter are running the business as I plan my exit strategy into a beef finishing operation. My hope is to spend the rest of my life fulfilling my dream back on a large scale farming operation. I currently farm about 60 acres of hay that is leased. We also are currently raising beef on a small scale building our heard. And have about 30 goats that we kid yearly and raise the kids for market. Current plans are to find more lease ground and expand into hay and straw sales, We are at our limits at our farm to build barns. I am looking for a Lease or Lease Purchase option for a larger farm where there may be existing structures that could be converted to a beef barns or enough land to build an new beef facility with land existing on this farm or leased land close buy for forges. I currently have a full line of forage and planting equipment debt free. I also have a considerable savings for down payments.

Husband and Wife team passionate about small-scale organic cut flower farming. We are looking for a small farm (3-10 acres) to expand our cut flower business. Interested in staying in the Pittsburgh area but would entertain other areas if its the right situation (even the east side of the state). The current business is more of a hobby (not main source of income) but would like to transition into a more serious operation. We are very passionate about building a balanced ecosystem on the farm and preserving the land as much as possible.

Passionate, hardworking, creative 24 year old man looking for a farm. I am in the process of developing a specific business plan but I generally I plan to generate revenue with events, rental cabins, meat, and produce. I have worked on farms for four years, three with organic vegetables and one with pastured livestock. I took a permaculture design course last winter and am looking to gain more experience with trees this coming season. Farming wise I will practice silvopasture, growing trees over perennial grasses with livestock grazing, and market gardening. It is important to me to produce good food and I also see value in outdoor experiences. On-farm events like workouts, barbeques, live music will bring in visitors. Those visitors will see that they can buy produce there, and stay in a quiet cabin next weekend. Something really special would be an amphitheater, stage, and studio. A property with varied topography is preferred so some sections can always remain more hidden. This is my vision but I am flexible. Call or email anytime and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

After leaving Swn I got back into golf and took the superintendent job four seasons. Most recently I was the superintendent at Greystone for there first two years. Currently I’m doing some small landscaping jobs for friends and neighbors. Honestly I had no idea about this website I was looking on my phone for farmland to lease near me. I’m just looking for an opportunity. Something close to the river would be nice for farming. I’m really good at making something outa nothing and enjoy doing things the old ways. My name is Jared Brandon. I’m a 39-year-old Pennsylvania native who loves the rolling hills and pastures of the Northeast. I currently reside in Lackawanna county, but spent a large portion of my childhood in Susquehanna county where my family was, at different times, involved in horse farms and veal farming. It was on the horse farm where I developed a deep appreciation and love for the farm setting. Over the years, that love developed into a passion for farming, raising animals, and stewarding land and resources.

My wife, Jen, and I have been married for 15 years and have always had a dream of having a farm where our kids can grow up as we both did—deeply connected to the land and animals, ideally living more simply but with rich experiences to offer our whole family. We currently both work from home and run two small businesses. We recently moved to a new home where we have a 1.6 acre lot, allowing us to build a garden, and have our flock of chickens, which our daughter absolutely loves. We have seen a deep love for animals and the farm life begin to develop in her, and we are eager to nurture that.

Having grown up in farm settings, I am experienced in the rhythms and demands of farm life. I recently began volunteering on a friend’s farm to gain more hands-on experience, and also to scratch the farming itch at least a little bit. I’m an avid consumer of books and magazines on regenerative farming, food systems, health, and animal husbandry. Much of my knowledge is theoretical, but I am eager to put it into practice.

I am deeply passionate about regenerative farming methods and I believe that small family farms are the way to restore resiliency, trust, and nutrition back into our food system. I am in search of an opportunity in the Northeast PA region that will allow me and my family to pursue these passions and become farmers. We feel that a lease and possibly mentorship or partnership opportunity will suit us best, preferably on an organic farm or farm that is interested in going organic/regenerative. I am particularly interested in raising grass-fed beef, and am learning more about the idea of “grass farming” and using livestock and cover crops to build soil health.

We are most interested in direct-to-consumer operations as opposed to subsidized commodity crops. My wife and I are both experienced in marketing, running businesses, and building support for the things we are involved in. Our skills and interests will complement the marketing and business sides of running a farm.

Ultimately, our desire is to own a farm that we can hand off to our kids and hopefully reignite the idea of a multi-generational farm. We are willing and interested in starting off with an opportunity that does not require us to buy land outright and start from scratch without the benefit of an experienced farmer/landowner to guide us.
