My wife and I just moved to Hanover PA just north of the MD state line.
We have 10.4 acres and we want to find a farmer that can work approximately 6 acres of land. The property is very open and gets full sun, very few trees. Land is clear and ready to be utilized for farming. Previously used for crops but not recently.
Owner would prefer farmer leasing to utilize more organic/natural methods of farming.
Lease option.
- Acreage: 51 to 100
- County: Crawford
The property’s 89 acres span both sides of a state-maintained, paved road.
A bank barn is located directly across from the house and is surrounded by approximately 10 acres of pasture with a cow pond.
The 2 BR, 1 BA 2-story house has newer metal roof/siding/windows and is in very good condition. There is propane heat with a newer hot air furnace, as well as electric radiator panels in the kitchen and living room as an alternative. A wood stove could be added in the basement or living room. Off the entry is a bonus room that could be made into an extra bedroom with a bath.
A neighbor makes hay from the pasture and has monitored and amended the soil as needed. Behind the house is 40 acres of pasture and woodland. Additional acreage includes conservable meadow, fen/wetland and bog. The pasture was planted with hedgerow trees and warm season grasses while enrolled in a USDA conservation program from 2011-2022. Approximately 15 acres of woodland is located at the far back of the parcel, which has been logged sustainable using a consulting forester, most recently in 2020.
The valley is a mix of legacy family farms and farmettes with cattle, goats, horses, corn and soybean crops. Some Plain Sect families own properties in the immediate area, but most do not farm.
It would be great to make this a working farm again.
Sale–prefer conventional bank loan or cash. The right buyer will have a plan and money lined up.
- Acreage: 11 to 30
- County: Luzerne
My property has been farmed over the past 5+ years in both corn and soybeans and I am interested in having a farmer come in with long-term goals in mind with a focus on sustainability. Will consider discussions with farmers looking to crop, raise livestock, and/or produce vegetables.
The farmed area represents 13 acres. The land is in the Sweet Valley area and easily accessible off a main road. The land slopes downhill to a wood line before a steep decline to a creek. Soil types are WIC and OID.
I am looking for a rent or lease agreement. There is a large bank barn and well for water access that I would consider to be included in any agreement.

The total acreage is 103 acres. Ten of those acres are developed into a bed and breakfast. Not currently farmed.
Terrain is mostly hilly, though we would be willing to work with the farmer to alter it to suit their needs. Very interested in hydroponic farming. In terms of buildings there is a barn though it will need some repair work and there is no fencing. We are open to all kinds of inquiries.
We have 60 rooms total in the B&B and one house has about 5 bedrooms. Any of these buildings can be used as housing. The Inn will need repairs to update.
We are willing to partner/lease/sell with experienced farmers.

*There are 50 acres in the parcel (20 acres are wooded, 25 acres have fruit trees planted, 5 acres are cut and not planted).
*The land was a productive fruit farm until 1990 and has since fallen into disrepair. The fruit trees could be removed from the area to support another enterprise.
*I would like to partner with someone to create value on the land. Some areas for a partnership could include: hemp production, organic farming, wine and fruit production, agri-tourism, livestock grazing, hay production, or recreation. Dairy farming is not an option.
*I am interested in a relationship with a reliable partner. Sub-leasing is permissible; one need not take responsibility for the entire 50 acre tract.
*There is some storage space and water is available.
*Land diagrams and aerial maps are available upon request. The homes on the property are currently not available.
*I am Interested in leasing the property or a joint profit-sharing venture.
*The property is located in the zip code 18644 area (Luzerne County/Franklin Township).

We are looking to fill an organic vegetable position. We previously had an individual who farmed our land and developed a CSA with about 35 customers. His CSA customers may still be available. There are about 2 acres that he worked but more are available and there is water on this acreage. A shed is available for storage of equipment, but no housing is available. We are located in Avella PA about 35 miles south of Pittsburgh. We also have an area that we used to house about 250 organic layer chickens that is available.
Land usage is free in exchange for vegetables/CSA share options. Owners are open to and have land available for other ideas in addition to vegetable production.

We borrow land from future generations. I became caretaker of these 80 acres, previously hay, beef cattle grazing, woods and wetland, when my in-laws passed away.
I want to leave the land better than I found it, so am seeking a like minded person/persons with commitment, but no land base of their own to caretake this land and grow your dream.
I want to help new farmers get started and gain experience without having the land investment. Prefer organic farming methods used.

- County: Bradford
The goal of this farm is to become an educational center, to learn and share ecologically balanced practices that promote sustainable agricultural and conservation of natural resources. This is an opportunity for beginning farmers to explore, practice, and create their own self supporting, diversified enterprises. Two barns, a mix of hayfield, pasture, pond, and mountain top woods opens the land to many possibilities. The right farmer/s will be able to expand their own dream on this shared land which will be secured for future generations through a land trust with a supporting non-profit board.
Farming Method: Permaculture

My husband and I own a 160-year-old farmhouse that sits on approximately 5 acres of land in Allegheny County. A local farmer has been maintaining the land for us by rotating crops such as pumpkins, corn, alfalfa, and winter wheat. Currently, approximately 1.5 acres are being farmed, the rest is available.
The land is fairly flat with a small a gently rolling section. The plot of land is easily accessible for farm equipment and to harvest crops.
We would like to find a farmer who is interested in large-scale vegetable production or growing crops and/or hay and who would practice sustainable methods of farming.
Our community hosts a weekly farmers market that is about 2 miles away with ample parking and restroom. We are grateful to our local farmer, but he is retiring, and we would like to find someone to utilize the beautiful property and support our local economy.
- County: Mifflin
Current owners raise horses on these 18 acres but are willing to work with someone who may be looking to raise livestock or potentially crop some of the acreage. Land is a blend of woods and pasture. There are two barns, one for the horses. Barn use is negotiable depending on the needs of the new farmer. Housing potentially available. Lease opportunity.
- Acreage: 101 to 200
- County: York
Beautiful family-owned 200-acre farm which has been used for grazing and hay production. One parcel had been an orchard and with the right person/interest that area could be restored to an orchard again. The majority of the land is pasture with some wooded areas.
Included on the ground is a hay tent, horse barn, bank barn and our personal residence. Fencing and waterers are also in place.
We are not certified organic but could possibly qualify as we do not apply chemicals on the land. The ideal situation would be a farm partner who wants to work with us to care for the land through regenerative farming practices. We live on the property so it is important for us to find a like-minded person who we feel comfortable partnering with.
This is a lease opportunity and the owners are open to discussing smaller acre portions of the farm vs. leasing the entire 200 acres.
- Acreage: 31 to 50
- County: Wayne

Opportunity for share lease or a sharemilker who may choose to start additional farm enterprises on the property. The current sharemilker bought his own farm and will be leaving in May 2022. He operated the cow dairy, kept his own dairy goats, pigs, layers and horses, and produced vegetables, fruit and maple syrup for family & friends. Owners are cooperative members with 520,000 pounds of quota for shipping certified organic milk and receive premiums for being 100% grass-fed
Farm is located in Tioga County, NY. (One mile north of Bradford County, PA), about one mile from an organic feed mill and within a few miles of several other organic farms. Willing to accommodate a variety of sharemilking and possible leasing scenarios for the right individual/family. Good references and solid farming experience required.
Farm must remain in dairy production under certified organic management.

- County: Juniata
Farm is currently owned by a brother and sister in partnership. This farm has been in our family since around 1820 and we are the 6th generation to grow up on this former dairy farm.
The total acreage is about 365 acres, but most of that is woodland. There are about 30 acres of flat, tillable land that would be ideal for high tunnel structures or vegetable production such as potatoes/garlic. There is a high deer population which limits types of vegetables grown.
Land is currently rented for hay production, but we’re looking into a more sustainable and longer-term relationship that will keep the land in agriculture production. We recently completed a forestry plan through NRCS and will be doing invasive management for forested areas in the future. 12 fruit trees (apple, peach, pear) in the yard.
3-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom house is available for rent. Root cellar, functioning fireplace w/oil heat available, large kitchen.
- Acreage: 1 to 10

- Acreage: 51 to 100
- County: Mercer
We have a 55 acre farm in southern Mercer County, PA (near Lawrence County line).
For the past 10 years or so, many of the fields (20-25 acres) have been leased out for conventional commodity crop production. Today, there are 10-15 acres that are not under cultivation and we are exploring alternative agrobusiness uses for this land with a longer-term view of expanding these alternative uses to other parts of the farm.
Broadly speaking, initial aspirations are using the land to:
- Help area people live better by providing naturally grown fruits and vegetables (and complementary products from nearby farms) through a CSA and/ or small farm market. In doing this also providing a unique social networking opportunity for CSA participants with appropriate educational or social events on the farm;
- Build for the future by enriching the land through natural and perhaps other experimental farming technics, and also building a model that can be adopted by other farms and next generation farmers in the area.
- Contribute to Mercer and Lawrence Counties by becoming another point of interest on the tourism/ agro-tourism map; as well as provide surplus output to organizations such as local food pantries; and
- Reward the stakeholders who are involved in this enterprise not only financially, but also in terms of learning and personal growth.
About the land
55 relatively flat acres set in southern Mercer County near the Lawrence County line. Originally a small dairy farm no livestock or other animals have been raised or used on the farm in the past 20 years.
Other features:
• About 10 acres of woodland.
• 1 acre pond – was previously stocked but not recently.
• Frequented by deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, racoons, muskrats, and a variety of birds. No bears have been seen on the property.
• Wild blackberry and raspberry bushes
• A few apple trees.
• Bank barn presently used as a workshop and for equipment storage, but could potentially be used for additional purposes.
About the location
Located in a rural/ agricultural area of Mercer County near the village of Volant, it has easy access to Routh 19 and I-79 and is exactly 1 hour to downtown Pittsburgh (non-rush hour) and PIT airport. The local area is a mixture of well-kept Amish and non-Amish farms and other sizable land plots.
Driving distances:
Downtown Pittsburgh: 58 mi (1 hr – non-rush hour)
Cranberry Twp 40 mi (40 min)
Grove City Premium Outlet 6mi (10 min)

Other points for clarity:
