The farm covers 60 acres with 35 to 40 acres are currently rented to a local farmer who grows soybeans and corn. The other 20 acres are comprised of pasture, yard, and buildings. A small portion of the pasture is rented by a neighbor to graze their horses. The buildings include a 2-story wood frame farm house (1685 sq. ft.) with a basement on a stone foundation, storm cellar entrance, two porches, and a handicapped accessible ramp; a two-story barn (40ft x 80ft, 3720 sq. ft.), rebuilt in 1991; a canvas-covered equipment barn (40ft x 64ft, 2560 sq. ft.); a silo (14ft x 55ft); and various outbuildings. There was a small dairy operation from 1898 to 1978, then the family raised beef and grew corn and hay. The property is in a farmland preservation trust (agriculture conservation easement) that allows for the building of one additional residential structure on up to 2 acres. Under the trust, the farm property will be used for agriculture production or commercial equine activities.

My wife’s family ran this farm as a small hobby farm. They took hay off the fields and maintained two horses, a cow, and a flock of ~40 sheep. We sought to care for the property in a similar way, but due to an injury we’re no longer able to achieve the things we’d like to here. We’re hoping to find someone interested in living in the house and utilizing the land. The farm is 157+/- acres with approximately 25 acres of hay fields that could be suitable for crop production, another 55 acres that is suitable for pasture, and 80 acres of woods. There is an old stone farmhouse on the property that we lived in for the last 4 years, but it certainly needs work. There is electricity and a good well. There is adequate cell phone reception at the house, and we used cell service for internet access at the property, as this is the most reliable option. It’s a remote and beautiful place.

Family farm that was used for small scale beef cattle farming as well as hogs and chickens. Tillable acreage is approximately 13 1/4 acres. The rest of the property has been timbered. Fields have been used for vegetables, hay, and corn and most have fencing around them. This farmette would be great for horses as it includes many trails suitable for riding.
