Entering Farmer #20257

Passionate, hardworking, creative 24 year old man looking for a farm. I am in the process of developing a specific business plan but I generally I plan to generate revenue with events, rental cabins, meat, and produce. I have worked on farms for four years, three with organic vegetables and one with pastured livestock. I took a permaculture design course last winter and am looking to gain more experience with trees this coming season. Farming wise I will practice silvopasture, growing trees over perennial grasses with livestock grazing, and market gardening. It is important to me to produce good food and I also see value in outdoor experiences. On-farm events like workouts, barbeques, live music will bring in visitors. Those visitors will see that they can buy produce there, and stay in a quiet cabin next weekend. Something really special would be an amphitheater, stage, and studio. A property with varied topography is preferred so some sections can always remain more hidden. This is my vision but I am flexible. Call or email anytime and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

I am a 32 year old veteran and beginning rancher/farmer looking to lease land on which to launch a sustainable agriculture production operation. I have recently completed the veterans agricultural business training program Battleground to Breaking Ground offered by Texas A&M/Texas AgrAbility . While attending the course I obtained knowledge, skills and resources related to business management, farming, and ranching. I also refined my business proposal which lays out my phased plan to begin and grow the business for which I will produce pasture raised poultry, pork, and beef products, with a goal of eventually adding fresh produce and value added products. My first phase enterprise is pasture poultry. My plan can be adapted to scale to available land, although I am seeking a property capable of sustaining growth, an enclosed building such as a shed or barn would be a great feature.

Husband and wife with three children living outside of Dillsburg with limited experience in commercial farming. Jeremiah grew up on a 200 acre farm- beans/corn/20 angus but unfortunately didn’t become interested in farming until later in life. His trade for the past 10 years has been tree work. Pam has proved to be quite the flower grower in the past few years and aspires to have a flower farm if we had the space. We are fairy open to what we would farm but know it would include organic practices- be it raising cattle, goats, vegetables or flowers . We have a Massey Ferguson 245 with front end loader and some access to tractor implements such as a plow. We also have a small woodmizer bandsaw mill that may be incorporated into the works along with a 1963 F600 grain truck. Both of us don’t shy from hard physical work and long days and would prefer to find some acres to use within a half hour of Dillsburg.

Proposal for Use of Land:
We are going on our third year as market farmers participating in our county’s local farmer’s
markets. We intend to spend the rest of our professional careers operating a market garden /
small farm in order to provide quality products to the consumer that are responsibly produced.
We would like to find land to facilitate this. As we have no mechanical equipment at this time, we can only care for small acreage.
We would prefer a land opportunity with housing. We are open to lease or trade.

Allowing the opportunity for consumers to
buy directly from the farm on which it is grown is high priority. In the future we envision
sharing our passion of working with the earth, especially with youth.
