Im relatively inexperienced in farming specifically but have a group of people whom have the drive and skill spread to tackle most things. We hope to start a small farm, grow various crops and if possible run a non profit for people with special needs, and or horticultural therapy.

I am currently active duty military (17 Years) serving in the United States Coast Guard. I am a few years from retirement and my family & I plan to move back to our home state in Pennsylvania. My wife and I grew up in the Poconos Area and post retirement we would like to move back and start a family farm together. We are currently in the early stages planning what type of farming we want to do, but highly interested in Agritourism (Christmas trees, orchards, etc). I grew up on a local horse farm learning to appreciate the land and the value of working on it! I hope to give that same sense of pride to my family as we set towards the next adventure of hopefully owning a farm in Pennsylvania! I would like to take away how to best formulate a business and marketing plan, as well as learn from other farmers in the area as I look for the best location.

I’m about burned out on working in corporate america and living the suburban lifestyle. I’m interested in being self sufficient as much as possible as well as hardening myself and my family against enviromental and political changes. I don’t have much experience with farming itself, but I understand processes and infrastructure. I am also willing to learn whatever I need to in order to make the above goals happen.

I’m looking to own about 100 acres of land. Ideally this would have a mix of open fields/clearings and woods. My intent would be to use it as a wildlife preserve, and sustainable hunting tracts, horse back riding trails. I see the primary income to be boarding and caring for horses. I would also be interested in farming organic heirloom varieties of crops in a way that is sustainable. I’m open to raising cattle or doing other livestock work that fits into my goals so long as the work is sustainable and humane.

Looking to buy a farm to market garden on. Wouldn’t mind subleasing to monocrop farmers. Orchard would be a viable option.

Currently living on a homestead and would love to acquire more land. Learning agriculture as I go. Happy to use the land for preservation, farming, animals or green space. I want to protect farmland and learn farming practices.

I am someone who has found myself feeling very passionate about land conservation and farming for my family. I don’t have a lot of experience, just a backyard garden that I’m managing to keep alive in the Sonoran Desert. (That has to count for at least a point or two.)

My best friend and I are dreaming of a life where we can both live on the same property and grow foods for ourselves, our extended family, and maybe even a farm stand. This would ideally be located in Pennsylvania, so that I can return to my home state and be around family. I want fruit trees and berry bushes, chickens and goats, a very large veggie garden and plenty of flower gardens as well. I intend fully to create habitats of native plants, flowers, and trees for animals and bugs native to the area.

I just don’t know where to start or how to acquire land without putting myself in debt.
