Currently live just outside of Philadelphia in Berwyn and looking for to lease 3-5 acres preferably in the surrounding area but willing to drive up to 1.5 hrs. Interested in longer term lease in order to set-up regenerative ag / agroforestry production system with emphasis on perennials , soil health, and biodiversity. I’m really interested in the idea of setting up a farm that improves the land and brings back biodiversity, while also being profitable, with lower input costs, and reliance on natural resources through improved nutrient and water cycles. Not looking to have any animals on the farm (at least to start)
I do not have currently have a farm (or any real practical experience), however have done a ton or research and am motivated to make it work. I’m only looking for a small farm to learn and develop an efficient production system. I now work in financial services in Philadelphia and have two small children that I think would benefit massively from being and working on a farm. I am seeking to build an organic, sustainable farm that I can grow food for my family and the surrounding community. Ideally I would be able to build something that my children and grandchildren can happily farm after me.
I have very basic experience in farming, most of it coming from growing up and working at a family farm, and working with my father on his small plot of land (more garden than farm). I am planning on working at an internship near where I am stationed currently (Fort Riley, KS) for my last few months of my military contract to learn and work on an organic farm, soaking up as much experience as I can.
I have a love of food, the outdoors, conservation, and animals. These all come together in my hope to build a lasting farm for my family’s future.

My family had a farm in Western PA for 300 years until the farming stopped with the passing of my great grand father then the farm passed ownership with the passing of my grandfather. I’ve always been drawn to farming and regenerative systems, but ultimately pursued a corporate career. At 34 years old, I am looking for more meaning and purpose in my day to day life and to be a steward of a piece of land. I don’t know what I don’t know, but I am extremely intellectually curious, bright, and excited by the different avenues of land production. I am open to outright purchase, lease to own, mentorship, and other opportunities to learn about regenerative or organic farming ideally in the Pittsburgh countryside region.

My husband and I started our herd of Simmental beef cattle in November 2020 and have been renting land to raise them on, but are looking to potentially expand and would need more land to do so. My husband has approximately 10 years of experience with being a farm manager for other farm owners, and around 5 years as a farm hand previous to that. Folklore Farm will be a regenerative farm specializing in quality pasture raised livestock, with a focus on providing high quality meat. To customers through direct sales, farmers markets, and restaurants. While also donating 10% of market head for each species to local food banks. The farm will use intensive regenerative pasture management, which will allow for low infrastructure and labor costs compared to traditional farming. Enabling the farmer to operate the business part-time alongside their spouses full-time employment.
To ensure maximum efficiency at minimum cost, Folklore Farm will lease land instead of purchasing outright. Since regenerative farming has the ability to restore soil health over time. Folklore Farm will be increasing the quality of the land. This will create a great tenant relationship with the land owner.
To achieve our goal of providing high quality livestock, we have chosen to focus on superior genetics and optimal grazing practices. We are confident that this approach will yield excellent results and provide value to our customers. With emphasis on genetics this will allow for additional revenue streams from seed stock sale opportunities.
