I am a part of a network of farmers/gardeners/growers in Erie County and Crawford County. We are looking for opportunities for shared farm land ownership and community farming to create a thriving local food system, environment, and economy. I have many years of experience in small-scale crop production in both rural and urban environments. Through my network of local farmers/gardeners/growers, we have generations of experience in many forms of agriculture.

Engineering and bakery positions are currently held. With precision agriculture farming and bakery at the core of our ideas. A young couple with a plan to not depend on the commodity but to depend on the land. We hope to open our own farm and bakery, small scale, around 3 acres, with access for people, some wooded lot for firewood, and some to grow vegetable crops. We have experience with volunteering for 3 years and have grown our own crops across a variety of things. We are now saving capital to lease and require help. We wish to find like-minded people who can help us and us them when necessary to propel our future. And we believe Farm Link does just this. We have searched through the endless information, but Farm Link does it all. We hope to be able to discuss more.

I grew up in farmland areas around Minneapolis, much of which has since been developed into suburbs and townhomes. While I didn’t live on a farm myself, I often helped school friends with chores like collecting eggs, feeding animals, stacking hay, and pitching in during planting or harvest. My fiance also has an agricultural background. He worked summers locally here for pioneer hi-bred, helping in corn pollinating, and his grandfather who we are still close with grew up on a 100-acre family farm with 15 children. That farm was eventually sold because none of the family felt prepared to take on the responsibility of managing so much land. Seeing both my own childhood farmland vanish to development and my husband’s family farm slip away has deepened my conviction that farmland needs to be protected and cared for. My goal is to start small, learn the skills I need through hands-on experience, and grow food sustainably in a way that supports my community and ensures that land stays in agriculture for the next generation.

I am currently an engineer working in the technology sector. I started a local urban farm when I was in high school – and I am now looking to bring the knowledge I have gained from the tech ecosystem to the agriculture space.

My grandparents were cattle farmers however, the land that they lived and farmed was rented and was not available to me when they were no longer able to farm the land. I am looking for a farm lease that includes a home in order to carry on their legacy. I do not have much experience directly but am excited to learn. My goals would be to create a diverse farm to include livestock and gardening that I would then intern sell at local farmers markets or a small farm store on the land. Additionally, I would like to produce enough product to donate to local food banks to ensure that even those struggling are able to provide fresh, safe quality food to their families.

Hello! My name is Payton and I am a beginning farmer interested in diversified organic vegetable production. I have spent the last year studying and working with the Rodale Institute. I am about to begin their fellowship program while deciding where I want to establish my farm in the future. Currently I am looking for farm management and land opportunities.

I’m a beginning farmer looking to scale from homestead-level production to a small, diversified operation on 50–100 acres within 2–3 hours of Pittsburgh (and ~2–2.5 hours of Columbus/St. Clairsville). I’m seeking a lease-to-own (or lease-first, buy-after-easement) arrangement. The ideal farm has tillable ground plus woods so I can combine forage/crop production with managed woodlot uses (trails, habitat, firewood, and future agroforestry plantings). My near-term plan is to establish soil-building rotations (cover crops, hay/pasture), grow feed and market garden crops, and then add a small starter herd/flock as infrastructure allows. Long-term, I want a resilient, regenerative system that improves the land, supports wildlife, and serves local markets. I’m comfortable with conservation easements that keep the land in agriculture and can help lower the eventual purchase price. I’m organized, reliable, and ready to begin with a practical, phased plan and steady sweat equity.

Some knowledge with soil science, plant nutrition, pesticide application, organic growing practices such as KNF, soil/microbe/nutrient relationships etc. I’m just a young father with a dream to run a farm with his family. My wife and I never fit in with the typical 9-5 crowd and we’ve always wanted to start a farm but with society the way it is and having 2 children, it makes it hard to achieve those goals financially.

Hello! Please call me Si
My wife and I are in our mid twenties and looking for land to homestead/farmstead. We are in search of a minimum of 8 acres. Preferably more. Our main goal is to cultivate a good environment to raise and nurture a family and take care of our parents as they age; farming being our secondary goal.
A little about us.
I grew up in Mississippi and started welding with my dad from the age of eight. I always had a garden growing up. I would “borrow” seeds from freshly planted neighboring fields to plant in my garden. Always having a dream to farm, at age 18 I started working at a conventional row crop, corn and soy farm. Seeing first hand the destruction caused by tillage and toxic chemicals used sent me down the path of regenerative agriculture and permaculture. After which I spent 5 months at Joel Salatins’ Polyface farm as an intern where I learned so much about pastured livestock production and wise land management principles. Following that I spent a year at a year-round pasture based, raw milk dairy. This gave me a love for jersey cows and small scale dairying and allowed me to be close to my girlfriend-now- wife while we were dating. Since then, we’ve moved back to her hometown and married and I am now working as a logger where I am learning and putting into practice sustainable forest management.
My wife grew up in Lancaster PA. She loves all things plants. Whether it be natives and plant design, cut flowers, herbalism, produce or anything of the sort. Her first job was at a produce farm when she was 16. She then graduated early and started landscaping for two years before becoming the farm manager at a local herb, and cut flower farm. Following that she interned at Polyface, opting to stay on an additional year managing that years interns and different aspects of farm operations. Following that she spent almost two years managing a native plant nursery. She currently manages the home and our hobby farm which we hope to expand and improve each season.
We currently have a gracious couple that are allowing us to farm on their nearby property, in exchange we are helping them develop farm infrastructure and help when needed. We have gardens, ducks, turkeys, and a flock of laying hens that follow our sheep as they are rotationally grazed across pasture. Currently, this is all for our own consumption as we explore niches to exploit to be viable in the saturated agricultural Lancaster markets.
An ideal situation would be a rent to own or some other similar arrangement. Thanks! Silvanus Rempel

I’m an Air Force vet who once owned a small farm in Wilton, CA. My experience is with sheep, goats, cattle, horses and chickens, but I would like to look into other things like growing wheat for milling locally. I’m interested in sustainable farming through regenerative agriculture, rotating crops, and biodiversity to improve soil health and support of native species. I have been overseas for years and returning now in hopes of living my life out on a farm, being productive and establishing myself in a rural community.
