Entering Farmer #20472

I grew up in farmland areas around Minneapolis, much of which has since been developed into suburbs and townhomes. While I didn’t live on a farm myself, I often helped school friends with chores like collecting eggs, feeding animals, stacking hay, and pitching in during planting or harvest. My fiance also has an agricultural background. He worked summers locally here for pioneer hi-bred, helping in corn pollinating, and his grandfather who we are still close with grew up on a 100-acre family farm with 15 children. That farm was eventually sold because none of the family felt prepared to take on the responsibility of managing so much land. Seeing both my own childhood farmland vanish to development and my husband’s family farm slip away has deepened my conviction that farmland needs to be protected and cared for. My goal is to start small, learn the skills I need through hands-on experience, and grow food sustainably in a way that supports my community and ensures that land stays in agriculture for the next generation.

My grandparents were cattle farmers however, the land that they lived and farmed was rented and was not available to me when they were no longer able to farm the land. I am looking for a farm lease that includes a home in order to carry on their legacy. I do not have much experience directly but am excited to learn. My goals would be to create a diverse farm to include livestock and gardening that I would then intern sell at local farmers markets or a small farm store on the land. Additionally, I would like to produce enough product to donate to local food banks to ensure that even those struggling are able to provide fresh, safe quality food to their families.

I’m a beginning farmer looking to scale from homestead-level production to a small, diversified operation on 50–100 acres within 2–3 hours of Pittsburgh (and ~2–2.5 hours of Columbus/St. Clairsville). I’m seeking a lease-to-own (or lease-first, buy-after-easement) arrangement. The ideal farm has tillable ground plus woods so I can combine forage/crop production with managed woodlot uses (trails, habitat, firewood, and future agroforestry plantings). My near-term plan is to establish soil-building rotations (cover crops, hay/pasture), grow feed and market garden crops, and then add a small starter herd/flock as infrastructure allows. Long-term, I want a resilient, regenerative system that improves the land, supports wildlife, and serves local markets. I’m comfortable with conservation easements that keep the land in agriculture and can help lower the eventual purchase price. I’m organized, reliable, and ready to begin with a practical, phased plan and steady sweat equity.

I am looking for a family farm where I will live and work with my family. Open to any any kind of operation including ranches, orchards, vineyards, dairy, grains, etc. Looking for areas with good schools, and a good place to raise our young children. Of course, we need to make a decent living from the property as well.

Manager of a well established horse breeding program for the past 6 years. Due to divorce forcing the relocation of our program, we are seeking a farm to lease. Need pasture for at least 10 mares and the use of a few stalls. Bucks or Chester County preferred.

I am seeking an opportunity to grow medicinal herbs with a focus on native medicinal and edible plants, Chinese medicinals and raise rabbits for the animal food industry. I also wish to grow figs and seasonal heirloom vegetable plant starts. I plan to market the herbs wholesale dried to the retail business market initially and potentially grow into food processing beyond dehydration. I currently have a collection of heirloom figs that need a proper in ground home. I wish to utilize the figs for both fruit production and fig tree starts. I believe the leaves can also be utilized for sale.

I am seeking a career change for a more satisfying and fulfilling live work environment. I started my career change exploration by working at a greenhouse grow production business then a retail nursery business. I spent a month on an ecotourism focused organic farm this past summer. I have experience in B2B sales, real estate sales, property management and hospitality.

I have a rough draft business plan and see an opportunity opening in the market of medicinal herbs grown in the USA as well as a burgeoning health pet food movement. There are few providers in this region for this market opening.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
