Hello, Im Kaylah Sanchez, I have little to no experience working at a farm but I have volunteered at an Urban farm, I also started my own garden with different types of vegetables and flowers. I am looking to a place where I can learn the trade and eventually run a farm of my own. I studied English literature, and minored in sociology and anthropology, I have my OSHA 30 and SST 10 certifications in carpentry, I have a certificate in digital marketing and e-commerce. I am currently a teacher at the District of Philadelphia I teach ESOL for grades 3-4.

I grew up in farmland areas around Minneapolis, much of which has since been developed into suburbs and townhomes. While I didn’t live on a farm myself, I often helped school friends with chores like collecting eggs, feeding animals, stacking hay, and pitching in during planting or harvest. My fiance also has an agricultural background. He worked summers locally here for pioneer hi-bred, helping in corn pollinating, and his grandfather who we are still close with grew up on a 100-acre family farm with 15 children. That farm was eventually sold because none of the family felt prepared to take on the responsibility of managing so much land. Seeing both my own childhood farmland vanish to development and my husband’s family farm slip away has deepened my conviction that farmland needs to be protected and cared for. My goal is to start small, learn the skills I need through hands-on experience, and grow food sustainably in a way that supports my community and ensures that land stays in agriculture for the next generation.

I’ve been working in greenhouse production for about 1.5 years. Part of the experience was in commercial production and part in production for a botanical garden. Personally, I have been growing my green thumb at home and have harvested veggies and maintain native and perineal plants. I’m hoping to acquire land to expand my passions and be able to host/offer community space for the exchange of education and knowledge of land stewardship among underserved communities. I see the rapid industrialization of the available farm land and the harm caused to our environments, and how important it is preserve it and educate the next generation of farmers.

I am a beginner farmer, although I have many years of experience as a doctoral-level pediatric occupational therapist. I’ve recently started a fiber farm specializing in animal and plant fibers. In addition to raising and harvesting specialty fibers, such as angora and alpaca, I am exploring bast fiber crops such as flax and nettle, and other fiber-oriented plant crops such as natural dye plants and herbs/teas. I’m interested in regenerative farming and contributing to the sustainable textile industry currently emerging. The fibers will be used in “seed-to-shirt” continuum of products and experiences. Additionally, I have a small pediatric therapy practice immersed in utilizing research-based approaches to intervention involving the farm as a therapeutic milieu: animal husbandry, farm tasks, fiber arts (dyeing, spinning, knitting/weaving ), etc. Furthermore, I would like to offer agritourism workshops and “farm stays” promoting regenerative small-scale farming, traditional skills, nature-play experiences, and “farm as therapy” training for OT students. These activities will contribute to the overall financial sustainability of the farm through multiple streams of revenue (market-based as well as clinical services). I am seeking small-acreage farmland/woodland (5-15 acres) to establish my fiber farm and farm-based clinical practice.

Air Force Veteran who’s full time occupation has traditionally been a Pilot and flight instructor. I have always had a passion for gardening and Agriculture in general but within the last year I decided to use the remainder of my GI Bill to attend Delaware Valley University for their Organic Farming Certificate Program. I currently grow produce on a larger garden plot and and have been raising Broilers and Egg Layers for Farmers markets and our roadside market stand. My name is Abbas Rasheed, and I have a background in international business. I have practical experience in logistics and distribution, and I’m now working on developing a small-scale sustainable farm in Pennsylvania. I have researched poultry and small livestock management in detail and have been preparing a startup plan focused on chickens and sheep, with a low-cost and that is well-suited for leased land.
I am looking to lease approximately 5 acres of farmland within driving distance of Philadelphia. The land will be used for raising a small flock of laying hens (around 200) for egg production and a small group of sheep (about 10) for grazing and seasonal sales. I am seeking an opportunity to grow medicinal herbs with a focus on native medicinal and edible plants, Chinese medicinals and raise rabbits for the animal food industry. I also wish to grow figs and seasonal heirloom vegetable plant starts. I plan to market the herbs wholesale dried to the retail business market initially and potentially grow into food processing beyond dehydration. I currently have a collection of heirloom figs that need a proper in ground home. I wish to utilize the figs for both fruit production and fig tree starts. I believe the leaves can also be utilized for sale.

I started my career change exploration by working at a greenhouse grow production business then a retail nursery business. I spent a month on an ecotourism focused organic farm this past summer. I have experience in B2B sales, real estate sales, property management and hospitality.
I have a rough draft business plan and see an opportunity opening in the market of medicinal herbs grown in the USA as well as a burgeoning health pet food movement. There are few providers in this region for this market opening.
