We currently have a small (3 acre) farm where we raise mixed vegetables and pastured poultry. We are entirely self-taught from books and just diving in trying new things.
We are looking for an opportunity to find a farmer with a larger farm operation who is willing to work with us, to help educate and train us and then transition the farm operation to us via sale. While our interest is vegetable cropping now, we are open to exploring raising dairy cattle in the future.
I have a management position at an equipment dealership and grew up helping/working on the farm. I realize there is such a steep learning curve in farming and that there are many opportunities to make $10,000 mistakes.
The optimal situation would be an apprenticeship at first, transitioning to a partnership, and then a succession plan with a slow buy out of the farm. The number of acres we are seeking is flexible.
