my experience in horn farm
i worked with the farm manager andrew and some volunteer they daily tasks change from day to day part of the knowledge about removing weed we removed manually, and one it call creeping thistle to removed it we must moved deep from root to not came again and catch after remove the soil to not harmed by thistle and if there is high weed we used a lawn mower.
one day we put the straw rolls around the farming places to make a walkway around the cultivated places.
When planting Andrew soaked the grains before planting them in water and we used a seed planting tool to make a spacing ruler between the seeds.
and in the beginning of summer they sell flowers ,baby vegetables at pot plants.

I studied for four years at Cairo University in Egypt, Faculty of Agriculture, Horticulture Department
which includes specialization in vegetables, fruits, and ornamental plants. I graduated with a good cumulative general grade. This specialization was in the fourth year. During the first three years, I studied part in agricultural mechanization and part in animal anatomy. I attended courses in Dissecting goats, chickens, and mice, ending with dissecting frogs, which I practiced for some time, then part about insect sciences and geochemistry, from analyzing the land to determine the percentage of salts in the soil and other nutrients, and part about plant tissue culture, genetic engineering, the use of agar to multiply cells in the laboratory, and the use of the microscope.

Rabbit production in Egypt is a special project.
I raised rabbits in batteries made of galvanized wire. I know the types of batteries, which one is suitable for any space, and the advantages and disadvantages of each type. As for the rabbits, they were different types. I raised New Zealand, chinchilla, mountain, and country ones, and I used to do crossbreeding in case the rabbits were sold as meat to butchers. The sale is per kilogram, and this is the most sale, but the least gain. As for the good sale, it depends on the age and type of the rabbit, and this is done for the farmer to renew and strengthen the breed. In this type, I keep the rabbit breed pure, and I was contracted with the Ministry of Agriculture in Egypt, where an agricultural engineer, a worker, an accountant, and a worker are sent to receive the rabbits from my farm. Keep a notebook for each rabbit with a record of its age, weight, vaccinations, serums, and vitamins that it has taken and should take.

Hello, my names Victoria. I am a mother of an 18-month-old boy and wife of 8 years. Our family owns a business called Make It Slow where we sell homesteading goods like cut flowers, fruit, herbs, household products, wood-turned products, hand built chicken coops and more. We are committed to leaving the rat race of corporate society and helping the next generation connect with their ancestry through family recipes, folk medicine, ancient arts/hobbies, and the connection to the earth from growing our own food. We aim to help people slow down and savor what matters most in this life.

Practically, we raise chickens, grow cut flowers, herbs and vegetables. And my husband is a carpenter using his woodworking skills to create livestock cages, chicken coops, raised garden beds, etc. He also makes everyday household heirlooms on our wood lathe such as rolling pins, wooden vases, candle sticks, kitchen utensils, and more.

We are passionate and hopeful that we can one day own a farm of our own that would provide a sanctuary space for people to access healing in the dirt and among the flowers. That we would be able to connect our resources to a destination for people to come and experience what a slower paced life can offer. We are looking for a minimum of 5-10 acres of usable land for growing and building/renovating a home for this purpose.

We are currently working where we are with what we have. Which is in Lower Burrell on an acre of land. We sell our products on our website, social media and farmers markets. We have a community following and are excited to watch this dream blossom.

I am organic grower with 8 years of experience working on farms ranging from 1 to 10 acres. I am a West Virginia native- and have farmed here, upstate New York, New Orleans, and some places in between. I am looking to start a small market garden on 1/2 to 2 acres. I prefer to use low till methods, crop rotation and cover cropping. I want to grow diversified vegetables, perennials, medicinal herbs, and possibly CBD hemp. I would need access to a shed/barn and possibly equipment (I have a lot! of tractor and machinery experience.) My long term vision is to offer a sliding scale CSA or farm market to low income families in Appalachia.

Other things about me- I’m 29, I have a 12 year old dog named Gnar, and I currently work at an environmental education center in Berkeley Springs WV.

My name is Elise Hanksand I am the owner and sole operator of Terra Luna Herbals, an apothecary and wellness goods brand, based in Philadelphia. In addition to the retail end of Terra Luna, there is a major focus on herb gardening and land stewardship. The gardening portion of the operation has been based, over the past 3 years, in an urban community garden plot. As happens with many city garden plots however, this lot will soon be unavailable to Terra Luna, leaving me no choice but to relocate to another, ideally more permanent, growing situation. We are looking to expand the Terra Luna herb and flower growing operation over the next few years on a piece of land that gives us enough space to grow a significant amount more crop than we have in the past. We will be growing herbs for our in-house herbal product line as well as flowers for a cut-flower program (to sell to florists as well as the public.)

I am a 34 year old man who is looking to begin pursuing vegetable production as a means of income. Providing quality organic produce to those who need it most has been a long term goal of mine for many years, and I feel I am ready to begin my farming journey! I have over 10 years of experience in the garden, and have produced many quality veggies from beans and carrots, to tomato’s, cucumbers and peppers. I spent 5 years in my early 20s after graduation from college working at the Whole Foods Cooperative in Erie, PA as a means of immersing myself in the world of organics. Following my time there I have spent the last 4 years developing myself as a cultivator by working as a grower at Potratz greenhouses.. I want to heal people through food, and by combining my passion for growing with vegetable production, I feel I can create the purposeful expression of my talents that I’ve been working towards all these years. I have been in contact with the produce manager at the Erie Food Coop, as well as representation from the Sisters of Saint Josephs farmers market as a means of getting any production to market, but I am in need of a site to grow on.
