Entering Farmer 20031
Good Work Farm is in the midst of its 6th growing season. We are committed to
growing high quality organic vegetables, melons and small fruits as well as organically
managed, pasture raised, egg laying hens. Our farm sells through a Community Supported Agriculture program to 140 member families. We partner with other farms, orchards, and bakeries to provide dairy, pork, beef, fruit and bread shares to our membership. Our farm uses mixed traction; we focus on working our team of draft horses as much as possible, and use tractor power when necessary. Draft power contributes to our farm by supporting healthy soil life, providing fertility, and decreasing our dependence on distant and unsustainable sources of energy. Good Work Farm is at a critically important and very hopeful time. We have an established market and a great reputation as growers of high quality sustainable food. We are strengthening the weakest links of farm business, and making capital investments in infrastructure and equipment that are increasing our efficiency and quality of life. We are prepared to purchase a farm of our own and recognize the responsibility, stewardship, and work this next step will take.
